Martin Technology Academy of Math and Science (MTA) is an innovative magnet school that is dedicated to helping students become cooperative problem solvers and purposeful users of technology, prepared for the 21st century. The faculty and staff at MTA understand that all children bring their own gifts and talents to school. Our goal is to build on those talents by engaging students in best teaching practices while integrating problem solving and technology.
At MTA, we offer experiences that follow the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) philosophy. STEM education is an interdisciplinary teaching approach that is paired with real-world, problem-based learning. STEM removes the traditional barriers between the four disciplines by integrating them into one cohesive teaching and learning experience. A STEM-literate student is not only an innovator and critical thinker, but a person who is able to make meaningful connections between school, community, work and global issues. STEM skills are increasingly valuable in the work force.

In District Transfer Request: House Bill 251:
A parent or guardian who resides in the Hall County School District may request to transfer his or her child to another public school in the school district for the upcoming 2023-2024 school year. The application will open February 1, 2023 and the application deadline is March 31, 2023.
As a parent or guardian, you can request to have your child transferred to another public school within the school district as long as the district has determined that there is available classroom space at the school you requested. If you choose to transfer your child to another school in the district, the law requires you to assume all costs and responsibilities related to the transportation of your child to and from the school.
If a parent requests a transfer to a school that does not have the services required by the current Individualized Education Plan (IEP) or Individualized Accommodation Plan (IAP), HB 251 does not require the school to develop those services as long as they are available within the local school system. Students who transfer under HB 251 are subject to GHSA eligibility requirements.
In the event a particular school has available space and the number of transfer requests exceeds the remaining available capacity, transfer requests will be reviewed and approved or denied on the basis of a lottery. Once available classroom space is reached at a school, no more transfers will be accepted at that school.
